THE MASKED INITIATES
Three initiates, Amina, Bilal and Cleo, enter the chamber.
The Cult Leader has five masks: three black and two gold.
She places one mask on each initiate and hides the remaining two.
None of the initiates can see the colour of their own mask.
The three initiates stand in a line, all facing forward:
- Amina can see Bilal's and Cleo's masks, but not her own.
- Bilal can see Cleo's mask, but not his own.
- Cleo cannot see anyone's mask, including her own.
All three know that there are three black masks and two gold masks in total.
They can also hear each other's answers.
The Cult Leader asks Amina:
"Do you know the colour of your mask?"
Amina: "No."
She turns to Bilal.
"Do you know the colour of yours?"
Bilal: "No."
Finally, she turns to Cleo.
Cleo: "I know the colour of my mask."
